I would recommend not using so much smudge tool for fire and all of the lines on the dragons wings going horizontal put them on a different layer and blur them a bit when your done it will look better when zooms closer
The lines, another weak point, I knocked them out real quick, and thought they actually looked quite good for the little effort. I'll clean them up, do as you say, but i'll put that to the bottom of my rapidly expanding list
hehe a dragon turtle interesting idea XD the skin looks great ,the fire is quite plastic but not bad at all and the idea is nice too. The dragon looks quite funny, i never saw anything like that , you are definitely good with dragons
Hmm well i personally draw fire differently. I don't have any artworks to show you, but i am quite happy with my lava and fire i mostly doodle it so i think it's in no artwork of mine. Some tutorials on here are very helpful and so are some on youtube too, try to find some. Haha perhaps i should do some on elements cuz i love to doodle those so much xD
Fire in very short : - starting with an orange and drawing some lines up and blur those a tiny bit ( i suggest two layers one with stable and behind one with blur) you can use liquify if you got photoshop to create some lines that look natural ( pictures of fire as reference are always useful as with everything one loves to draw but has not yet got the hand out of it) -then you clip and draw some darker tones at the bottom, you can use a noise or spread brush ( many in ps and some good in sai too) -with yellow ( with clip again on a new layer) you can draw the very tops and use quite of screen and luminosity with some redish and orangish tones ( draw some crazy stripes and blur those)
Lava in very short too : Messy red and brown tones with much noise and everything to get the colour right, then with luminosity draw some lines as if you are drawing a sea or something, and add some shadows to make those waves stronger. Some floating pieces of stones etc will be nice too if you add them. WIth screen and luminosity draw some wavy lines again and with luminosity try to add noise ( photoshop) or sai (brush) and then create some very glowing shiny spots, you can then with photoshop make those glow and with luquify you can turn them into fire or something.
If this anyhow helped i hope so, if not tutorials tutorials i find them very helpful because there is one for simply everything XD
Thanks MyC, This fire was a little experimental, and very quick. You can see how the method changes across the picture. I will be redoing it after I peruse some tutorials... Did you see my barbarian/wyvern and the fireball I did there, it's a lot better, even though it was done ages before. Still I know it's not perfect, hence this latter experiment.
